Open Studio hours are intended for those who have prior experience with clay, either hand building or on the wheel. We will assist you with the studio and equipment and to answer questions you may have but are not there to give specific instruction. If you are interested in learning more about ceramics and hands on instruction, we recommend taking one of our classes.

What is Open Studio?

Open studio hours are designated times when students or someone with clay experience can access the studio to work on projects or practice using the wheel/hand build. Payment is weekly.

During open studio hours, you can:

• Hone your pottery skills on the pottery wheel

• Use wheels, handbuilding tools, wheel-throwing tools and other resources (slab roller, tile cutters, glazes, slab and hump molds) for their artistic endeavours

• Glaze your pottery pieces with underglazes and dipping glazes

• Engage with a community of aspiring and established potters and talk about all things pottery

Available day and time :

• On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, sessions are available from 10 am to 4 pm, with Saturday sessions offered from 10 am to 12 pm. Please be aware that this time frame includes a 20-minute cleanup period.

Bring a Guest. You may bring a guest to Open Studio (not a class) under your supervision. The fee is $5 per hour for your guest. We have EFTPOS available

Open Studio hours include the use of equipment & tools. Clay, glazing and firing are not included. Please bring a 10L lidded bucket for your slips and used clay to bring home with you.
